How to Create Lists

 

The Lists feature in the editor is a powerful option that lets you add ordered and unordered lists in your pages and control how they look.

 

Using lists, you can make your help articles easier to scan for readers. 

 

 

Here’s what the lists will look like in an article:

Numbered List

 

Numbered lists are useful when you want to list several items in a particular order. They are perfectly suited for lists of procedures or step-by-step instructions. 

 

Follow these simple steps in the page editor to create a numbered list:

 

Step 1: Move your cursor to where you want to add a list and click to select the starting point

Step 2: Click on the numbered list option in the toolbar.

Note: A list number will appear at the beginning of the line of text where your cursor is, and that line of text will be indented.

 

Step 3: Hit the Return/Enter key at the end of the numbered line of text to add an additional item

Note: To end the list, click on the numbered list option again or hit enter twice.

 

For a different type, e.g., lower-alpha:

 

Step 1: Right-click on the ordered list and select Numbered List Properties

Step 2: In the dialog box, choose the type, e.g., Lower Alpha, then click OK

Bulleted List

Bulleted lists are useful when you want to set off several items in no particular order.

 

Follow these simple steps in the page editor to create a bulleted list:

 

Step 1: Move your cursor to where you want to add a list and click to select the starting point

Step 2: Click on the bulleted list option in the toolbar.

Note: A bullet will appear at the beginning of the line of text where your cursor is, and the line will be indented.

 

Step 3: Hit the Return/Enter key at the end of the bulleted line of text to add one more list item

For a different type:

 

Step 1: Right-click on the unordered list and click Bulleted List Properties.
