How to Enable Multiple Language Support
Configure your ProProfs site for multiple languages to enhance user accessibility.
Use Case:
Imagine you run a help site in English and Spanish. With ProProfs, users can effortlessly switch between languages, making content accessible to a diverse audience.
Here's a screenshot of a sample help site offering multiple language support:
Benefits:
- Customize site interface, messaging, and page elements in multiple languages for a global audience.
- Allow users to easily toggle between languages with a user-friendly language selection drop-down menu.
To Enable Multiple Language Support
Step 1: In your ProProfs Knowledge Base dashboard, go to "Settings" and select "Configure."
Step 2: Under the Settings tab, select your default site language.
Step 3: Linking help sites together:
- Select "Site is another language of an existing site."
- Choose the Primary Site.
- Select "Link sites together with language drop-down" to provide a language selection menu.
- Standardize URLs for linked sites.
Let's say you have a primary site in English with the URL: site.helpdocsonline.com. When you create linked sites for different languages, you want to standardize the URLs to maintain clarity and a cohesive user experience. Here's how you might structure the URLs:
English Site (Primary Language):
URL: site.helpdocsonline.com
Spanish Site (Linked):
URL: site.helpdocsonline.com/es/
Here, /es/ is the ISO code for Spanish, indicating that this is the Spanish version of the site.
- Save the preferences.
-
ProProfs does not automatically translate content.
-
Each language requires a separate site, as content, settings, branding, etc., are managed independently.
-
ProProfs does not provide tools to translate text.
-
Translations can be done offline by exporting and importing the site or by allowing a translator to work within ProProfs with a contributor role.
You have successfully enabled Multiple Language Support for your help site in the ProProfs Knowledge Base. If you encounter any issues or have any questions, feel free to contact our support team.
