Overview

 

The Table of Contents lists a site's hierarchy of pages, folders, and subfolders. In the ProProfs Knowledge Base, you get two styles for TOC- Modern & Tree. You can select any of the two and customize them accordingly.

 

Benefits of the TOC:

 

  • Users can easily navigate between articles

  • Users can quickly understand the information flow

  • Authors can neatly organize the articles

Adding pages, folders, and links to the table of contents is effortless. Please check out the respective articles.

 

Table of Contents Style

We currently offer two styles –Modern and Tree. You can change the style in the Site Settings.

 

Go to Settings > Table of Content.

Drag and Drop to Reorder

You can move pages or folders through simple drag and drop. Pages can be reordered, placed in folders, or on top of other pages. Folders can be reordered or placed in different folders as subfolders.

 

Check for the split indicator while dropping a page/folder in the TOC.

Customize the Table of Contents

You can customize the Table of Contents, including:

  • Font size and spacing

  • Width of the table of contents panel

  • Show/hide the page or folder icons

  • Folder options and more

Turn Off the Table of Contents

If you do not want a table of contents for your site, you can turn off this feature.

 

  • Go to Site Settings > Table of Content.

 

Go to Settings > Table of Content.

 

  • Click No to disable the table of content.

  • Scroll down and click Save.

Note: Your user role will determine whether or not you have access to the Settings section.

 

Show Book Icons

You can add book-style icons for folders and pages, as shown in the image below.

To add the book-style icons,

 

  • Go to Settings > Table of Content.

  • Choose Modern Style TOC.

  • Select Book as the preferred icon type.

  • Click Save.

If you have used your CSS style for TOC icons in "site override CSS," then you need to remove your CSS to prevent any conflicts.
