How to Set Up an Interactive Demo

The Interactive Demo turns your Step-by-Step Guide into an autoplaying walkthrough that guides readers through every step without them clicking forward. Its timing, looping, and autoplay settings are configured directly in the guide editor.

What Is Interactive Demo?

Interactive Demo is a playback mode built into every Step-by-Step Guide. When enabled, it auto-advances through your steps, showing each screenshot with its elements, such as click markers, highlights, and annotations, for a set duration before moving to the next one. You turn it on with a single toggle at the top of the guide editor.

Why Use It?

Interactive Demo saves readers from clicking through a guide manually and lets you control exactly how it plays.

  • Sharing a walkthrough with someone who won't read a full article? Autoplay moves them through every step automatically.
  • Want the demo to loop on a kiosk or landing page? Turn on Loop at End so it restarts without anyone touching it.
  • Need to distribute the demo outside your Knowledge Base? Grab the embed code and share it wherever readers already are.

Example Use Cases

  • A support agent enables autoplay so a customer can watch a walkthrough without clicking through it themselves.
  • A product marketer embeds an interactive demo on a landing page with Loop at End turned on.
  • A trainer shares an embed code so new hires can replay a workflow demo inside an internal wiki.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open your Step-by-Step Guide and toggle on Enable Interactive Demo at the top of the editor.

Step 2: Click the gear icon next to the toggle to open Video Settings.

Step 3: Set Step Duration to control how long each step stays on screen.

Step 4: Toggle Loop at End to restart the demo automatically once the last step ends.

Step 5: Toggle Autoplay so steps advance on their own, with no clicks needed.

Step 6: Expand Share in Video Settings to get the embed code for the interactive demo.

Step 7: Click the play button to preview the interactive demo.

Step 8: Watch each screen play with its added elements, such as click markers, highlights, and annotations, appearing automatically.

Note: Any link added to a clickable element only works inside the interactive demo player, not in the guide's regular view.

Step 9: Open More options on any screenshot to copy, skip, hide, or delete that step.

Pro Tips & Interactive Settings

Tip: Elements you add to a step, such as click markers or annotations, only become interactive during playback in the Interactive Demo, not in the guide's regular reading view.
Settings: Step Duration, Loop at End, and Autoplay live together in the Video Settings modal, opened from the gear icon beside the Enable Interactive Demo toggle.
